10 Saddest World Title Reigns In Wrestling History
7. Kane
Despite the fact that Kane has worked for WWE for approximately 47 years, he didn't have any kind of appreciable World title reign until 2010. That's not to say that the Big Red Machine had to wait 15 years for his first tantalizing taste of the gold, however.
Less than a year into his run as Kane, he defeated 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin to capture the WWE Championship. Great rookie year, right? Not exactly: Kane won a first blood match when Undertaker appeared and busted open Austin, who lost the match despite being in the middle of a merciless beatdown of the much larger Kane.
To make matters worse, Kane only held on to the title for 24 hours, losing it back to Austin the following night on Raw. Clean. Honestly, Kane probably would have been better off not winning the championship here, since all it did was make him look like the world's biggest goober.
