10 Saddest World Title Reigns In Wrestling History
6. Bray Wyatt
Ever since the character appeared on WWE television, it was a foregone conclusion that Bray Wyatt was a future world champion. He had the size, the athleticism, the pedigree, and the charisma, but soon he began to lack the booking. He was cut off at the knees during his WrestleMania program with John Cena, and it gradually became apparent that a pattern was emerging.
Wyatt would start a feud with someone, intimate that spooky things would happen, and then he would lose repeatedly and embarrassingly, nuking his credibility. Fans still knew he was destined for greatness, however, and they took the bait with every renewed push. All of his upside was still there, after all.
In January of 2017, Bray Wyatt finally won the WWE Championship, defeating John Cena (among others). Then, he was thrust into a feud with Randy "Sure, Okay" Orton, and lost the title to him in less than two months, following a match that hinged on the superimposition of SPOOKY BUG IMAGERY. Good thing WWE waited to pull the trigger on that until the time was right.
