6. Back When Kenny Omega Actually WAS A Gentleman
Omega was the heel all along, but this was never made too obvious. The beauty of the mystery was preserved, allowing it to fuel the intrigue.
He wasn't some self-serving d*ckhead just waiting for Page to f*ck it all up before pursuing his ambitions in the singles division. At various points, he seemed to bond with Page despite their having little in common. That was the crux of the dynamic: they shared incredible chemistry in the ring, but weren't especially close outside of it.
Omega was even protective over his opponent during their World Tag Team Title win over SCU on the cruise edition of Dynamite which, incidentally, bring that back. What an incredible setting.
Prior to it, Omega requested from his fellow babyface opponents a "gentlemen's contest", the mostly friendly nature of which, to super-invested long-term fans, meant that a similar offer extended to Jon Moxley ahead of Winter Is Coming didn't scan as some blatant ruse.
Kazarian, still hot that a drunken, defensive and troubled Page had spilled drink all over him, dropped Page directly on his head - to which Omega saved his friend with a furious intent.
It was actually a sweet moment - one that only made the eventual split sting all the more.
