10 Seedy WWE Stories Vince McMahon Wants You To Forget

6. All About The Moolah

Fabulous Moolah's complex and problematic past as a promoter didn't come under a great deal of scrutiny in the years following her 2007 death...until WWE perplexingly decided to propel her back into the spotlight.

Announcing their first ever women's division WrestleMania pre-show battle royal in 2018, the company inexplicably chose Moolah to be the Andre The Giant equivalent, despite a subtle nod that she might not exactly be the ideal choice for such an honour in the naming of the Mae Young Classic one year prior.

A video package was knocked up, with everybody from Stephanie McMahon and Trish Stratus to Bayley and Beth Phoenix passing comment and a narrator labelling her "a trailblazer for women's equality" before explaining how she'd paved the way for everybody in the existing generation.

What should have been historic news was damaged by her association in a turn seemingly few within the company (or, Vince McMahon, anyway) saw coming. Hastily changed after sponsor-led pressure, the previously-arranged trophy was changed and any mention of her association with the match was eradicated from any further promotion.
