10 Segments Sky Sports Cut From WWE Programming Airing In The UK

If you remember, lead commentator Michael Cole once had ‘The Queen’ enter the ring and knight him as ‘Sir Michael Cole’ on an episode of Raw.

The segment started with Cole’s Extreme Rules tag partner Jack Swagger adorning a royal robe on Cole’s shoulders and then proceeding to read from a scroll, saying that when the night concluded Cole wouldn’t be known as (the self-proclaimed) Mr. WrestleMania but as Sir Michael Cole. Swagger then introduced the Queen of England, which was obviously just some elderly woman in fancy dress who came out to the ring as JR and Lawler looked on in (actual) embarrassment.

The Queen then started speaking but the crowd booed the holy heck out of her (or the segment) as Cole knelt on one knee on a stool. Swagger gave her a sword and she knighted Cole, who then forcibly kissed The Queen on the lips and started calling the crowd peasants. Cole demanded the fans chant ‘Sir Michael Cole’ but they just booed the segment more. Cole yelled at Lawler and Ross to get in the ring to kiss his feet, with him taking his shoe off which had some gross infection going on. Swagger attacked Lawler as he entered the ring and took him out. Cole told Lawler, being held up by Swagger, to kiss his foot. JR told Cole to go to hell in his southern drawl so Swagger applied the ankle lock on a screaming JR as Cole shoved his dirty foot in JR’s face. Sir Michael Cole said let that be a lesson to everyone and Cole and Swagger then jogged around the ring.

The whole segment was cut from the encore showings on Sky Sports in the UK, as well as most references to it, probably for portraying The Queen in a negative light nearing her Diamond Jubilee or just for how dire the whole segment was. Either way, THANK GOD.
