10 Shocking AEW Plans You Won't Believe Almost Happened

6. Bray Wyatt Jumping Ship

Speaking of Bray, he was reportedly in talks with AEW during his time away from WWE between July 2021-September 2022. The reported reason for things breaking down at the time online was money, which seems hard to believe unless Wyatt was asking for something astronomical. It's hardly like Tony Khan is averse to splashing the cash on talent.

Also, Bray would've been a massive coup for his company at any point between 2021-2022.

Most fans generally agreed that Vince McMahon had dropped the ball with one of this generation's most creative minds first time around, and there was still a ton of goodwill surrounding AEW back then. Some of that has washed off now, but Triple H's era in charge hadn't kicked into high gear when Wyatt was meeting with Tony.

Trips managed to coax Bray back into the fold in time for Extreme Rules 2022. Wyatt's tragic passing in August 2023 hit everyone hard, and came as a real sudden shock. We'll never know how things would've turned out for him in AEW.
