10 Shocking Japanese Wrestling Incidents That You Need To Know About

10. The Great Sasuke Shoots On The Dirt Bike Kid

The Great Sasuke will be known to most for his role in the WWF light heavyweight Division in 1997 and his involvement in several exciting multi-man matches in ECW that same year. He was pegged to be a star a star of the light heavyweight division before the role wen to Taka Michinoku instead. Sasuke was also the foreman of Japanese independent promotion Michinoku Pro-Wrestling, or M-Pro for short. M-Pro was a favourite of tape-traders, thanks to their hybrid lucha/puroresu style and larger-than-life characters. One of their traditions was an annual masked man tournament. The mask tournament in 1999 featured an uncomfortable incident where Sasuke decided to shoot on British wrestler The Dirt Bike Kid. Annoyed at the news that he would be losing a quick first-round match to Sasuke, The Dirt Bike Kid removed the mask that M-Pro had specially made for him and threw it our of the ring. This completely spat in the face of the spirit of the tournament and p***ed Sasuke off royally. After a short flurry of offense, Sasuke began repeatedly kicking TDBK with a series of stiff kicks, before finishing him off with a very simple but very painful front facelock. After the match, The Dirt Bike Kid extended his hand to Sasuke for a handshake but he wasn't having any of it and walked out. TDBK never worked for Michinoku Pro-Wrestling again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBtTeNoSYro
