10 Shocking On Air Wrestling Burials

10. Triple H Puts Down Kofi Kingston

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiuKrvw_sgw In fairness, this was one of those WWE-style comedy moments, one which did pop a reaction from the live crowd. Going into the first ever Bragging Rights Pay-Per-View in 2009, Team Raw (comprised of DX, Mark Henry, The Big Show, Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger and Kingston himself) were having some problems co-existing as a unit. Trying to calm tempers, Kofi theorised that this dissension was exactly what Team Smackdown would want. Interrupting, Triple H asked where Kingston's Jamaican accent had went. Initially being portrayed as being from Jamaica, Kofi was asked to put on an accent to give the character more of an authentic feel, even though he's Ghanaian-American, and was brought up in Boston. On the surface, this was simply a throwaway joke, but it did come across as a little weird. Why the writing staff felt the need to draw attention to a gimmick they were trying to move away from, making Kingston more serious as a consequence, is confusing, and it didn't exactly do much for Kofi in the eyes of the fans.
