The 2019 Rumble has already been examined in this very article, and everyone knows that Seth Rollins won the thing. According to WrestleVotes on Twitter though, he wasn't even the second choice behind Drew McIntyre at first. The burly Scotsman sat snugly behind Hollywood's favourite son.

Yep, The Rock.

The tweet claimed that Rocky was set to win the Royal Rumble match and then set up a title confrontation with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 35. Plans changed quickly when Reigns announced he was leaving to battle cancer in late-October 2018. That put all talks of Rock vs. Roman on hold until WWE knew for sure that Reigns' health (which came first) was sorted.

Over time, WWE apparently moved away from the thought of The Rock winning the Rumble and started firming up the aforementioned title situation between Braun Strowman and others instead. When that didn't suit, they moved towards Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title at 'Mania.
