10 Sickening In-Ring Injuries You Won't Believe Stars Wrestled Through

2. Mick Foley Falls From Hell

You could probably devote this entire list to nothing but Mick Foley matches, as he's perhaps taken more physical punishment than anyone in wrestling history. For most fans, though, it is his iconic match with The Undertaker at King of the Ring '98 that left a lasting impression in their minds. Foley (as Mankind), was having one hell of a feud with The Undertaker, and there was only one way to settle it: inside of Hell in a Cell. It was only the third one out of the 28 current matches, and due to the brutality involved, it became impossible to top.

Wanting to immediately capture the crowd's attention, Foley ascended the cage and dared Undertaker to join him. Unfortunately for Foley, the challenge was accepted. The two brawled on top of the structure, with Taker getting the better of it. They came close to the edge of the cage, which was when Taker grabbed him and tossed him off like it was nothing. The fall was an incredible spectacle. He fell 16 feet (or 22 if you you include the angle of the fall according to Foley's book "Have a Nice Day)" and crashed through the Spanish announce table. For all intents and purposes, the match should have been over. Foley, for some reason, continued to fight. While he was being stretchered out, he got up on as own and climbed the cage again.

Even The Undertaker even looked amazed. The two battled once more on top of the cage, and Foley once again came out on the losing side. He was chokeslammed through the cage in a bump that was possibly even worse than the one through the table. Even this wasn't enough to put him away! Foley somehow made a comeback, even though he had a tooth lodged up his nose. He absolutely would not stay down. No one in the locker room would have questioned his toughness had he quit after the first cage fall. Perhaps Foley wanted to make a point, and put on a performance for the ages. Besides the brutal falls, Undertaker slammed him on thumbtacks multiple times. It was all too much to take in.

Mercifully, a Tombstone piledriver finally put Foley away, but not before solidifying him as the biggest daredevil in wrestling history. While Foley didn't break his neck, he does get bonus points on the list for being able to continue and take multiple horrific bumps when it would have been easier to call it a night. What better way to sum up this match than with Jim Ross' legendary call "As God as my witness, he is broken in half!"

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
