10 Sickest WWE Steel Chair Shots Ever

10. Rock On Mankind - 1999 Royal Rumble

Having already mentioned this one, it seemed prudent to open with it. For those out there who might not have heard the story and/or seen Beyond The Mat, Mick's wife Colette along with his 7-year old son and 6-year old daughter were live and in attendance for this match. They both watched their father get mauled live and in living colour. It's a sobering story. The only solace to it is that Colette had the sense to take the two kids out of the arena just as Rock was beginning to latch the handcuffs, so they didn't witness the chair shots- although, I'm sure they have since on tape. This was, perhaps, the most infamous pro-wrestling 'audible' ever called, when Rock diverted drastically from the planned event, upping the chair shot count from 5 to 11. Foley, for his part, as he admits in his second autobiography, didn't help matters by having a rush of macho blood and encouraging Rock to knock him down in the ring. By the time he went down, the quota of 5 had already been met and they weren't even in the aisle-way yet. In the end, the actual figure became irrelevant. 11, 12, 13, what did it matter? The point had been made. It was at least 10 shots too many.
