10 Signs WWE’s Women’s Revolution Is Dead
1. Failure To Create New Stars
The Four Horsewomen should have been at the vanguard for a new era of stars in WWE. The next bit should have been easy: choose any one of the talented, distinctive performers at the company’s disposal, accentuate their strengths and give them a committed push.
Instead, WWE have botched Shayna Baszler and Rhea Ripley, turned Ember Moon into a geek, and hidden Mae Young Classic stand-out Mia Yim under a crap mask. Those last two have since been released of course. WWE made a whole Network documentary proving they don’t know what to do with Liv Morgan. Toni Storm spent years sacrificing everything for her career, but it took her mere months on the main roster to realise life as “Toni Two Pies” wasn’t worth it.
Even massively over former champions have been diminished, but we’ve talked about Asuka and Alexa Bliss elsewhere. Looking at the active roster, there are arguably only two women who could stand shoulder to shoulder with Flair, Lynch, Banks and Bayley.
Rhonda Rousey is a legitimate UFC legend who brought all her star power with her. That leaves Bianca Belair as the only true women’s star WWE have created themselves in the last few years. Even then she’s had to survive being needlessly jobbed out in seconds to Becky Lynch. So much for the easy bit.
