With the referee stunned from earlier in the match it was the founder of ECW, Paul Heyman, who would come out to make the three-count that would delight the crowd and bring the title to the ECW brand. Once again, however, this was another short-lived title reign, with RVD losing the belt just 22 days later on an episode of Raw in a triple-threat match involving the former champion John Cena and the man who cost him the title Edge. On this occasion it was 'The Ultimate Opportunist' Edge who came out on top, winning the title for the second time.
