10 Solutions To The Hot Mess That Is WWE Creative

2. Implement A Protection Order

The Finn Bálor problem is typical WWE fatalism.

He was sacrificed to Kane to build Braun Strowman back up after he was thrashed by Brock Lesnar - and now Bálor isn't deemed strong enough to face Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble because he cannot be rehabilitated from his stint as a makeweight in time. While Bálor has been normalised, the Demon hasn't - but this caveat is apparently lost on the same man in love with it (!). Once the heavily-pushed first Universal Champion, Bálor is now just a part of the meaningless WWE merry-go-round. Nobody bought Kane as a threat because he thrashed Bálor a few weeks back; he was perceived as a nuisance. So it didn't even bloody work.

WWE should implement a policy in which six male talents from each brand are granted a protection order - a creative edict prohibiting them from suffering arbitrary losses in this deadening plate-spinning culture. This Royal Rumble fiasco could have been avoided, if something like this was in place.

It's even worse in the respective Women's divisions; with the obvious exception of Asuka, every last act is treated as interchangeable parts in ceaseless multi-woman matches that, fittingly, are fatal for their prospects as genuine stars.
