10 Stars WWE Doesn't Want You To Love

9. The Ascension

WWE traditionally doesn't promote tag team wrestling very well, but the opposite is true for developmental territory NXT, which has plenty of established teams competing over a set of highly sought-after championships. In NXT's short history, though, the brand's most successful tag team has been The Ascension. Boasting an NXT Tag Team Championship reign of just under a year, Konnor and Viktor may have their weaknesses as workers, but the gimmick and push they received showed that good booking could overcome a lot. When the two men were called up to WWE's main roster, it was assumed that they'd fill a long-empty niche in the tag team scene - the face-painted powerhouse tandem. They scored a few dominant wins in late 2014 and early 2015, but for unknown reasons, the company quickly changed its tune on the team. They were attacked by The New Age Outlaws, The APA, and the nWo, and soon began losing the majority of their matches while being buried on commentary. While Konnor and Viktor wouldn't have been a New Day-level success, they could have been a presence in the tag team ranks, playing foils to babyface tandems and establishing themselves as a long-term presence in the division. Instead, they'll need serious rehab to ever been taken as a threat to the titles.
