10 Steps To Improve WWE Survivor Series 2022’s Build
1. Resist The Urge To Rehash
Don’t do it, Vince.
During this year’s Survivor Series, WWE commemorated the 25th Anniversary of The Rock's debut with a series of vignettes, an ill-fated battle royal and a baffling 24-hour golden egg hunt based around Dwayne Johnson’s latest film, all while knowing the man himself was unable to attend due to travel restrictions. With 2021 now in the books, most wrestling fans, especially most WWE fans, should recognize which anniversary is on deck. Take heed if the touring schedule takes them north of the border in November 2022.
Next year’s event will mark 25 years since the exceedingly well documented Montreal Screwjob, something that Vince McMahon is all too eager to revisit anytime WWE holds a show in Montreal, stages a crooked finish or whenever Bret Hart happens to be in the general vicinity of the building. The last thing next year’s Survivor Series or really any future WWE PPV ever needs again is a convoluted twist in the tail at the end of the show that infuriates the fans in attendance, the viewers at home and possibly even the participants of the match itself.
Vince McMahon's willingness to say “Remember the time I legitimately double-crossed one of my hardest working, most dedicated employees? Well here’s that movie again, but worse.” is irksome at best and the new normal at its worst. Amidst a myriad of amendments WWE could make in the run up to next year’s show, this is one box most fans would welcome them leaving unchecked.
