Survivor Series is WWE’s second-oldest continuous PPV and deserves to be recognized as such. For a PPV that has delivered so many memorable debuts, entertaining elimination contests, killer main events and unforgettable moments in general, Survivor Series is all too often relegated to the dustbin.

For longtime fans of the product, the half-hearted attempt at the announcement of the Survivor Series teams this year was flat out insulting. For 34 years, WWE lovingly crafted their Survivor Series squads by publishing team photos in the official magazine, dedicating special interludes during television programming to PPV reports from HQ, and built angles through weeks of programming on RAW and SmackDown. On Saturday, 6 November 2021, WWE kicked off the build to the 35th anniversary by hastily splashing an announcement of all four teams in their entirety on a random Saturday afternoon on Twitter. On Twitter.

WWE came across like the high school kid who forgot to complete his project the night before, recklessly glued some arbitrarily chosen popsicle sticks together five minutes before the bell rang to start class and called it a day. Draft notwithstanding, WWE had four weeks of open programming between Crown Jewel, when the new rosters were locked in and Survivor Series to carefully assemble all four squads. If you have the TV time, why not dedicate some effort to the next big show?
