10 Strange Wrestling Debuts That Left Fans Bewildered
8. Miro Is 'The Best Man'
First off, having Miro (the former Rusev) back in wrestling is great, great news. WWE screwed up hugely when they released the architect behind Rusev Day earlier this year, and we fully expect the man to do great things in AEW.
Having said that, Miro being introduced as Kip Sabian's best man was a real WTF moment in a year already full of them. "Miro & Sabian?", we thought to ourselves. "How do they even know each other? Why is wrestling's hottest free agent besties with one of AEW's biggest losers?" (That's not a knock on Sabian himself, more on how he's been booked in AEW).
In hindsight, we can see what Tony Khan and co. are hoping to accomplish. Miro is massively over with AEW's key demographic thanks to his WWE accomplishments and entertaining twitch channel, so attaching him to Kip Sabian's storyline instantly elevates it to must-see TV for the AEW crowd. Using established stars to elevate lower-card workers is wrestling 101, and given the talent involved here it should pay off handsomely.
"Baffling" doesn't always mean "bad", and this angle should hopefully lead to better things to come for everyone involved.
