7. Headbanger Mosh Becomes Beaver Cleavage

The Headbangers were a fun tag team during WWF's Attitude Era, all punk aesthetic and high energy in-ring work.

They managed to win the Tag Team Championships on a single occasion, and I'll admit that they probably my favourite tag team in WWF at the time. Damn you, grunge!

The partnership was ended however, and Headbanger Mosh was repackaged as Beaver Cleavage. The name isn't a great starting point, but young Beaver was given the full vignette treatment before his arrival.

The vignettes made things a lot worse, as Beaver was shown at home with his mother, Mrs. Cleavage. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out what the joke was there.

The implication was that Beaver wanted to get his hands on his mother in a fairly illegal and decidedly immoral manner. The gimmick lasted just a few weeks, Beaver defeating Christian of all people in his only match before dropping the gimmick in a promo a couple of weeks later.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
