10 Stupidest Decisions By WWE In 2002

From causing legends to walk out to p***ing off GLAAD, WWE made a lot of bad decisions the year it got the 'F' out.

The WWE Network has recently added many episodes of both Raw and Smackdown from 2002. Although by no means a complete run, the addition of these episodes has been welcomed by fans of the Ruthless Aggression era. Watching them now, removed from the context of whatever was going on in WWE at the time, it's incredible to witness energy and excitement the shows generate. It's an energy and excitement that would certainly be welcomed today, with Raw becoming more skippable by the week and Smackdown practically on life support. Sure, the creative and in-ring action may not have been world-class in 2002, but the shows are filled with genuine stars, crowd is electric and the performers are over. Looking back, 2002 was such a strange, transitional year for WWE, with the company's popularity declining, big names leaving, other big names returning to the fold, the next generation of stars getting their starts and the company splitting into two 'brands'. With everything that was going on at the time, WWE's decision-making was not always the best it could be. In fact, sometimes it was downright awful. There are always going to be misses as well as hits, but 2002 saw WWE at times teeter perilously close to self-destruct mode. The following are ten pretty damn awful decisions made by WWE during this very important year for the company.
