10 Stupidest Decisions By WWE In 2002

5. Triple H's Needless Burial Of Brock Lesnar

Moments after Triple H been presented with his shiny new toy, he needlessly buried Brock Lesnar on the mic. The Game said of Lesnar, who had just become the exclusive property of Smackdown one week earlier and was the recipient of a monster push:
Brock Lesnar knows he doesn€™t belong in the same ring with me. Brock Lesnar knows that he can€™t with me in this ring. As a matter of fact, Brock Lesnar doesn€™t even belong speaking my name. And the fact is, the second I beat The Undertaker to become the number one contender, Brock Lesnar knew his days as champion were over, so he took his belt and ran with his tail between his legs. As it turns out, €˜The Next Big Thing€™ has no balls.
Of course, Lesnar was not offered the chance of a rebuttal and Triple H's promo did nothing to help his growth. It wasn't even a tease for a future match between the two men - Trips just did it to put himself over and to verbally neuter Lesnar, one of the hottest acts in the company. It may not have made much difference in the long run, but at the time it had many people scratching their heads and asking 'why?' (Lesnar, for his part claimed he was unaware of Triple H's promo in a 2008 interview).
