10 Stupidest Decisions By WWE In 2006

2. The Continued Exploitation Of Eddie Guerrero

Oh WWE, did you learn nothing from the backlash you received in the final weeks of 2005? You know, when you blew up Eddie Guerrero's low rider, used the tagline 'Viva La Savings' to promote WWE Shopzone and brought up the great man's name any opportunity they could. Look, Eddie was beloved by many, and if Chavo Guerrero wants to use the Three Amigos suplexes in tribute or Rey wants to wear armbands with E.G. on them, fine. But constantly bringing up his name and using him for storyline purposes was just plain wrong. Sadly, things only got worse as 2006 went on. First, Rey's whole Royal Rumble win was one big homage to Latino Heat, right down to Rey drawing the No.2 entry supposedly being a 'trick' played on him by Eddie. Then there was Randy Orton claiming that Eddie wasn't in heaven but was, in fact, in hell. Add to that Chavo Guerrero turning heel and feuding with Rey Mysterio because of their ties to Eddie, including bringing in Vickie Guerrero, and yeah, you have all the makings of a pretty uncomfortable year, especially if you're an Eddie Guerrero fan. But the fun don't stop there, because there was yet more Eddiesploitation to come in the shape of Chris Benoit's feud with Chavo Guerrero and, to a lesser extent, JBL. Yup, more than a year after his passing, Eddie's nephew, wife and closest friend were enacting a make-believe storyline revolving around his estate. Just awful. And to think, this was the same year that WWE put Eddie in their Hall of Fame...
