4. Putting Hulk Hogan Over Randy Orton At SummerSlam
If Hulk Hogan is coming back to work a match, he's not coming back to do the job, you got that, brother? The world was reminded of the real Terry Bolea (or is that Hulk Hogan? I get the two confused all the time) in 2005, when he came back to beat Shawn Michaels and then declined a rematch in which he would return the favour. Because he was 'injured'. Apparently... WWE got back into bed with the Hulkster in the summer of 2006, by which point his definitely not made-up injuries had healed. He was programmed with Randy Orton, with the feud revolving around the Legend Killer's pursuit of Hogan's daughter, Brooke, who just so happened to have a new album coming out at the time, which Hulk, Orton and WWE personnel frequently mentioned. Hmmm.... So, anyway, things started off respectfully enough, until Orton RKO'd the $115m man on the hood of a car during an episode of Saturday Night's Main Event. Now it was, like, so totally on, dude, and the two were set to clash at SummerSlam. Logic would dictate that Orton went over on the ageing Hogan on the night but, nope, lol creative control. Hogan saw to it that his hand was raised at the end of their by-the-numbers midcard collision. The 53-year-old with knackered knees pinned the 26-year-old upstart on one of the biggest shows of the year. And then he disappeared, back to reality TV promoting and his daughter's hopeless singing career. This was Hogan's last ever WWE match, fyi.
