10 Stupidest WWE Main Events

6. Roddy Piper vs. Jerry Lawler (King Of The Ring 1994)

As top stars during the 1980's, both Jerry 'The King' Lawler and 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper had years of experience between by the time they clashed to close out the 1994 edition of the King Of The Ring. Unfortunately, the main event both men put on was not as dynamic as a WWF Title match between Bret Hart and Diesel earlier in the show. The previous year, Bret had won the tournament, main-eventing against Bam Bam Bigelow. In '94, his younger brother Owen would win the King Of The Ring, but he wasn't given the opportunity to celebrate in the headline slot. Instead, Lawler and Piper were tasked with sending fans home happy, but their slow moving brawl didn't satisfy. Making matters more painful, the live crowd were quiet throughout, and there was far too much stalling to make the 15-minute match memorable. As if adding insult to injury, this took place in the midst of the whole 'New Generation' concept the company were pushing, saying the WWF was young and hip. This main event between a pair of past-their-prime wrestlers was anything but.
