Shawn Michaels wrestled his first match in World Wrestling Entertainment for four years at SummerSlam in 2002, in a brutal unsanctioned fight against Triple H. Beautifully, Michaels won this violent match with an inside cradle, although he did take a Sledgehammer after the contest. A stretcher for the Heartbreak Kid, stat!

If Michaels had gotten his wish, we would never have had that match. Instead, the greatest SummerSlam of all time would have been co-headlined by a match between Michaels and the legitimate face that runs the place, Vince McMahon.

HBK wasn't too confident in his physical abilities, due to that whole ruined back thing, and thought that a plunder-based walkathon with Vince would have been the way to go. Vince disagreed, and suggested that HBK's BFF HHH help him through it. The rest is history.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
