10 Superstars Who Had Better Careers Outside WWE

7. Místico/Sin Cara

Mistico These days, the name Sin Cara is synonymous with the word €˜botch€™. This applies to both his in-ring performance while in WWE, but also his WWE career in general; it was a big mistake for him to leave Mexico and the reputation that he had there. While wrestling as Místico in Mexico, mainly for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), he was widely believed to be the greatest luchadore of his generation. He won numerous awards and titles, including the NWA World Middleweight Championship, the CMLL World Welterweight Championship, and Best Box Office Draw of the Decade (2000-2009) from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Think about that last one for a minute: this luchadore was so popular and revered for his skills that he somehow managed to out-draw the Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cena, The Undertaker, and countless other top WWE Superstars. He also had one of the most impressive finishers ever seen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jt8qcOSEg-o In WWE, however, things fell flat from the moment he debuted. In his first televised match, in which he faced Primo Colon, he nearly messed up his ring entrance, and fell off the turnbuckle while getting ready to perform his finisher. From there, things went downhill. Rumors spread like wildfire that he had a backstage attitude problem, that he didn€™t want to learn WWE€™s style or English for that matter, and that he thought of himself as a bigger star than most other Superstars in the WWE. It also didn€™t help that he was quite prone to stops in his momentum. He was suspended for thirty days for a Wellness Policy violation, was sidelines for six months after injuring himself at the 2011 Survivor Series, injured his knee towards the end of 2012, took time off in 2013 to deal with other injuries, and dislocated a finger in August 2014. Given these problems, it should come as no surprise that his momentum was halted, and his popularity in the WWE disappeared. It seems that the man behind the mask, Luis Ignacio Urive Alvirde, should€™ve stayed in Mexico. He would have never needed to change his style, and would€™ve solidified himself as a legendary Mexican wrestler. But for WWE fans, his name is forever associated with €˜botch€™.
