10 Superstars Who Never Won A Title In The WWE

7. George 'The Animal' Steele

WWE Hall of Fame class of 1995. Like Vader, the closest 'The Animal' came to any notable success was at the Slammys where he won the award for 'Best Performance by an Animal' in 1987. George began his career in Pittsburgh and was scouted by former WWE Champion Bruno Sammartino. He would soon be elevated to WWE and their main event slots, endlessly trying to end Bruno's reign as champion. The pair would draw after an hour long contest at Madison Square Garden, George of course lost the rematch. With his gimmick well established, Steele became one of the biggest names of the 1980s, during wrestling's first mainstream boom. His most famous feud was in 1986 against 'Macho Man' Randy Savage after Steele developed a crush on Savage's manager Miss Elizabeth. The feud was meant to last only a couple of months but it proved so popular with fans that it continued well into 1987. Again, George would be disappointed. The Animal would return to WWE as part of The Oddities in 1998 before making appearances for both WCW and TNA.
