4 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (6 Nov - Results & Review)
Sami Zayn abandons 'Honorary Uce'; Kevin Owens wins hot main event; WWE tries with Crown Jewel.
Last week's Halloween special was heavy on the Danhausen but ultimately short on true thrills that powered WWE booking forwards. So, some good news: This week, whilst it was mainly about what's coming on Saturday in Saudi Arabia at Crown Jewel, did drop some heavy hints about where things will be going post-Riyadh excursion.
Kevin Owens and CM Punk bashed their heads together to produce a wild and woolly brawl in the main event, and it looks like KO could be next up for a torn Sami Zayn who didn't exactly come through on his promises to Jimmy Uso. Elsewhere, whether anybody wants it or not, another WarGames match to complement The Bloodline vs. The 946 is being set up in the women's division.
You've also got to give WWE some bonus points for at least trying to make each Crown Jewel Championship bouts mean something. These are glorified 'Champion vs. Champion' exhibitions, and everyone knows the bespoke belts will be forgotten about as soon as the plane touches tarmac back in the US post-PLE, but the writing team logged some story and that's appreciated.
SmackDown was pretty much a one match show for the most part, but there was just enough sprinkled throughout the 2 hours to keep things entertaining. Also, who saw that Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Tama Tonga match coming?! Screw the tag division - just put those lads back out there for another 10-15 minutes!
Here's all the good and bad from the last episode before Crown Jewel, but the first en route to Survivor Series.
