The images of Big Show crying like a kindergartner who just found out that the Easter bunny isn't real, remained burned in the minds of fans who remember witnessing tears, rolling down his massive face and splashing in a puddle on the mat, his livelihood threatened by The Authority. While that may have been effective storytelling to start, the repetition of the crying and Stephanie McMahon emasculating Big Show, forcing him into scenarios by reminding him of his wife at home and his need to support her, was enough to kill off any chance the character ever had of being taken seriously again. Week after week, he would show up at Raw and be disgraced and degraded by Stephanie, who would use his employment as a weapon to get him to do as she pleased. It completely emasculated the giant, castrating him of his dignity, both as a man and an athlete, and led to Internet memes that mocked him rather than celebrated him for any of his accomplishments. By the time the awful 2013 Survivor Series pay-per-view wrapped up, and the World's Largest Athlete had lost his one opportunity to rebuild himself by defeating Randy Orton to capture the WWE title, the usefulness of the future Hall of Famer had been erased.
