10 Superstars Who Stole World Title Belts

7. The Rock Steals Austin's Broken Skull Belt

Revenge is a dish best served by stealing something that your enemy really likes. During a feud with the Rock over the Intercontinental title in November 1997, Austin had his belt stolen by the Brahma Bull after a beatdown on RAW at the hands of the Nation of Domination. Though Austin got the title back at D-Generation X:In Your House, McMahon ruled that he must defend it against The Rock the next night. Rather than defend it, Austin chose to forfeit the title and hurl it into the New Hampshire river. A year and a half later, The Rock got his revenge. Austin was the WWF champion after beating Rock at Wrestlemania 15 and was rather fond of using his Smoking Skull belt, an alternate version of the championship, made just for Austin, which featured, well, a smoking skull. In the build up to their feud at Backlash, The Rock stole the Skull belt (well technically, Shane McMahon gave it to him, but never mind) and, on April 12, 1999 revealed himself on the titantron, standing on a bridge. Austin pursued the Rock and wound up being thrown in the river, along with the belt. The next week on RAW, Austin crashed a fake funeral that the Rock was throwing for him and the belt (still around Rock's waist somehow) by driving into the arena on a monster truck. He beat the hell out of the Rock and reclaimed his title.
