10 Surprise WWE Returns That Are About To Happen

2. Steve Austin

Imagine the limbs if that glass shattered and 'Stone Cold' marched down the aisle for a spot in January's Royal Rumble. San Antonio would lose its mind, not least because the Alamodome was the host site for Austin's first Rumble triumph way, way back in 1997.

A full generation or two on, Steve could thrill the masses once again by entering the Rumble and hitting a few Stunners. Nobody's saying he needs to win the thing, but just having 'Stone Cold' out there would send WWE's social media engagements and YouTube figures through the roof - get that clip uploaded the same night and BOOM! Instant numbers.

Smell the ratings, and all that.

Austin could even use the Rumble to kickstart his WrestleMania 39 program. Would anyone really complain if he turned into the 'new Undertaker' for a few years and exclusively worked 'Mania season? There's no way that banter-filled main event opposite Kevin Owens didn't whet his appetite for more.
