10 Surprising Wrestling Inspirations

3. Dr Britt Baker DMD (The Four Horsewomen)

It should come as little surprise to anybody that Dr Britt Baker was inspired by her AEW colleague Chris Jericho when she first turned heel in 2020.

Revealing on his podcast how she'd looked back at his vintage WCW heel work for inspiration on her 'Role Model' persona (as well as his knack for splashing anything good on a t-shirt), Baker commented that she'd be wasting a resource not to utilise his experience.

However, she's also been effusive in her praise of WWE's Four Horsewomen, and for more than just their skills between the ropes.

Speaking to WrestleZone, she said;

“The women’s revolution...evolution. That, for me, majorly influencing on that was the Four Horsewomen of WWE, Bayley, Becky, Charlotte, and Sasha. And I think all women today, we have them to thank to some extent because, whether you like it or not, they had a huge role in women’s wrestling being where it is today. They fought through the two-minute matches and the 20-second segments. So, for them to kind of stick through it and keep grinding, that really benefits the rest of us.”

These 2019 comments are more pointed following AEW's own shortcomings with the women's division since launch, and it's likely Baker will be cited by present and future peers for her own tireless dedication on the long and difficult road to parity.
