Since Vince McMahon acquired WCW in 2001 and totally killed the wrestling business, former WCW wrestlers had all found their way to McMahon Land. Some, like Booker T, Diamond Dallas Page, and Buff Bagwell came over in the massively disappointing Invasion angle. Others like Ric Flair, Goldberg, Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Eric Bischoff, and Scott Steiner came over a year or so later. The lone holdout was Sting. The only WCW superstar to never appear in a WWE ring, Sting stayed with WCW all through the Monday Night War and refused to come over to WWE following their purchase of WCW. He spent a few years in TNA, showing that he could still work a decent match even as he approached 50 years old. Sting was a legend who many fans admired but those same fans accepted the fact that TNA was the only place they'd ever get to see their hero. However, much like his former tag partner the Ultimate Warrior, Sting was convinced to sign a contract to appear in the new WWE 2K15 video game. Rumors had swirled years before saying WWE was planning a Sting vs. Undertaker match at Wrestlemania but those rumors failed to materialize. Now, wrestling fans thought, we would finally get the Stinger in a WWE ring. It finally happened at the Survivor Series when Team Authority seemed to have the advantage over Team Cena thanks to Triple H's interference. The crowd exploded when Sting's music played and the legend walked out to step into a WWE ring for the first time in his illustrious career. Sting planted Hunter with the Scorpion Death Drop, planting the seeds for a WrestleMania match and Sting's WrestleMania moment.
