10 Tag Teams That Should Never Have Worked (But Did)

5. Randy Orton & Bray Wyatt

The Bray Wyatt/Randy Orton storyline was entirely predictable. 'The Viper's infiltration of The Wyatt Family was telegraphed weeks in advance, and it was abundantly clear that he'd bring the stable down from within, continuing his lengthy feud with Bray. It played out exactly as expected, but while the structure was easy to foretell, nobody could've predicted how well the duo would work as a team.

Orton changed little about his character after joining the Family. He was still the same cold, detached 'Viper' as before, yet he blended seamlessly with the maniacal cult leader. Everyone bought into the act, and while we all knew what was coming, the union produced some of Orton's best character work.

Long considered one of WWE's most unengaging performers, Randy felt genuinely interesting for the first time in years. Him and Bray worked incredibly well together, and even held the SmackDown Tag Team Titles for a while, before Orton manipulated Wyatt into expelling Luke Harper from the cult.

It all went to hell when Orton turned by burning Sister Abigail's burial site to the ground, and the ensuing feud produced some of 2017's worst moments, but Bray and Randy's alliance showcased both at their absolute best.
