10 Terribly Booked WWE Title Situations This Year

1. Daniel Bryan Vacates Title

WWE.comWWE.comHalf of the problem with this situation was beyond WWE€™s control. There€™s little they could do about Daniel Bryan€™s neck problems. They hung on for as long as they could to prevent themselves from having to strip him of the title €“ which led to some drawn-out situations, including at Payback, where Brie Bella €œquit€ to prevent Daniel from having to turn over the title. But while all of that was an ugly, out-of-their-hands situation, there was a moment of such sheer stupidity that it just defied all logic. When Stephanie McMahon announced that they were stripping Bryan of the title, she said that he was hearing it for the first time on Raw, noting that €œMy assistant tried to call you earlier today but you never returned her phone call.€ Then, less than a minute later, Stephanie and Triple H announce that the champ will be determined in a ladder match at Money in the Bank €“ and the camera pans up to show Bryan€™s titles hanging from the rafters. So we€™re to believe that Stephanie could not reach Bryan to tell him he was being stripped as champ, but somehow got possession of the two belts without him knowing about it? Was Repo Man somehow involved? That might seem like a minor error, but when the entire storyline for the past year has revolved around The Authority€™s unceasing efforts to take back the titles, this logic gap makes an already shaky angle even worse. Bryan€™s title reign began with a bang, and then didn€™t even end with a whimper €“ it ended with a sleight of hand.
