WrestleMania is the biggest show of the year, and naturally everyone wants to get on the card to perform in front of that insane crowd. Unfortunately, not everyone can have a feud going into WrestleMania, which led us to the grand tradition of the WrestleMania Pre-Show Battle Royal. WrestleMania XXIV's Battle Royal was for a shot at the ECW Championship later in the night, ending with Kane eliminating Mark Henry for the chance to face Chavo Guerrero. What happened next was the shortest match in WrestleMania history as Chavo charges at Kane, who grabs him by the throat and chokeslams him. Kane covers Chavo, and wins the ECW Championship in eleven seconds which broke King Kong Bundy's record for quickest victory at a WrestleMania. Many see this as an ill-advised move, and another example of WWE's mistreatment of the ECW brand. While it's often remembered for the hardcore style of wrestling, above all else ECW was entertaining. It was the first company to introduce the luchadores to America, as well as the technical skill of your Malenkos, Guerreros and your Jerichos. By having someone like Kane, who has been a model WWE employee, win a match with very little effort for their top title in such a short amount of time (against a Guerrero, no less), WWE hammered another nail into the coffin of ECW's legacy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QWQr3CSaY0.
