10 Things You Didn't Know About WWE's Hell In A Cell Gimmick
9. Bob Orton Almost Gave The Undertaker Hepatitis C
The famous Hell in a Cell incidents are all well known, Foley's fall from the top of the cage is pretty much considered one of WWE's most famous moments. However, in 2005, there was a moment that could've been the most damaging Hell in a Cell incident. It wasn't clear to viewers and it didn't involve a big bump. The night was Armageddon 2005 and The Undertaker was battling Randy Orton inside the Hell in a Cell. This was during the period that Randy was being managed by his father, who had regularly been interfering to help his son's matches. Despite Hell in a Cell supposedly stopping interference, Bob Orton did of course manage to get involved in Randy's bout with The Undertaker. This was back in the era where bleeding in the cell was pretty much a given, so of course he ended up cut open. The Undertaker and Orton bladed too, meaning that all three men inside the cell were spilling the claret. The massive incident in all of this was down to Bob Orton - he had Hepatitis C. The blood illness is something that put Undertaker's health in jeopardy. Two open cuts, both bleeding together? It was a terrible oversight when you consider one of the men had Hepatitis C! It's even crazier when you consider WWE tests had identified it, yet Bob had still been allowed to go out there and blade. When The Undertaker found out about Bob's condition, he reportedly went ballistic. Luckily, he never contracted the condition, but this really could've ended up a much bigger incident. WWE had been lax in looking after its talent.
