10 Things Everybody Got Wrong About WWE In 2016

1. John Cena Did Not Wrestle The Undertaker

WrestleMania 32 was supposed to be the WWE's grandest show ever. Unfortunately, even before 2016 rolled around, the show looked plagued by injuries and unavailability. The Rock's insurers weren't letting him compete. Seth Rollins was hurt. Even retired stars, like Shawn Michaels, were called up to wrestle, but it didn't work.

Still, WWE had an ace in the hole, one dream match that fans had wanted to see for years but had never gotten (since 2003, anyway): The Undertaker versus John Cena. By mere chance, the men had been kept apart for more than decade, and a bout between them was a headliner without peer.

It was set for the show, and was to be built up as the "Battle of the Legends." Before the build could even begin, though, the match exploded - John Cena suffered a shoulder injury in January that was going to put him out of action for months. Though some fans held out hope that Cena would be able to recover in time for the show, those expectations were never realistic. He had a serious injury and he needed surgery - and recuperation time.

Cena could not compete at WrestleMania, but he did make an appearance, helping The Rock fight off The Wyatt Family. Meanwhile, The Undertaker wrestled Shane McMahon in a lackluster Hell in a Cell bout. Hopefully, Cena vs. Undertaker is on for WrestleMania 33, because the show needs to be better than last year's edition.
