10 Things I Hate About CM Punk

8. He Keeps Sneering At Wrestling

I understand that he€™s training to fight in legitimate competition now, and no longer has to deal with the bullsh*t office politics, warped perceptions of reality or skewed narratives of WWE.

I also understand that he€™s probably got residual bitterness from the way he considers he was treated by the WWE and by Vince McMahon and Triple H. After all, Punk ate, slept and breathed professional wrestling for almost his entire life - yet he€™s burned out and over it now. It€™s got to have been a personal tragedy on a level with a bereavement for him to have lost his passion for it the way he has.

But his tendency to sneer at his former craft in interviews nowadays rankles. To put it into context: Daniel Bryan retired a couple of months ago for reasons outside his control, and it devastated him. Every time Punk shows such contempt for professional wrestling, he spits in the face of Bryan, as well as the rest of the men and women who still love it. He spits on the fans - his fans, the ones that he and Dana White are hoping to take with him to his first UFC fight - who still love it, and who still hold out a little hope that he might return.

He may have no interest in the business anymore, but that doesn't mean he has to toe the MMA standard (ie, boring) line about pro wrestling being €˜fake€™. We know it is. This is not new information. Personally, I€™d rather watch a staged fight that€™s (at least nominally) intended to entertain than a legit match-up which might last seconds like Ronda Rousey€™s fights used to, or end up a twelve-round snoozefest like Mayweather vs. Pacquiao.
