10 Things We Learned From JBL On Talk Is Jericho

2. Mountain Climbing & Working With At-Risk Kids

Something JBL should definitely be commended for is his work with at-risk kids in Bermuda. After discovering his love for the island on his honeymoon, he and his wife rented a house there and he decided to start working with disadvantaged kids. He brought in gang experts and put a rugby program in place to draw them in, and they maintain an almost 100% graduation rate amongst the kids they work with, as opposed to the normal 50% rate in Bermuda. His foray into mountain climbing came via a childhood appreciation of Edmund Hillary, and after meeting adventurer Annabelle Bond he decided he would climb the 7 summits to raise money for the kids in his program. As of now, he's climbed 3 of the 7 summits, with plans to hit all 7 with Mt. Everest already being booked for 5 years from now.
