10 Things Modern WWE Could Learn From Its Golden Era

8. Pure Babyfaces

The "badass" babyface trope has been done to death ever since Stone Cold Steve Austin made it big in the Attitude Era.

The Rock, CM Punk, Becky Lynch, and countless others have tried to follow in The Rattlesnake's footsteps with varying degrees of success, but this act has now tipped over into cliché.

Looking back at the Golden Era, the most popular babyfaces were as babyface as you could get. Hulk Hogan taught kids to eat their vitamins. The Ultimate Warrior was bright and colourful. Ricky Steamboat was the nicest man in wrestling. And fans adored them all.

Just look at Sami Zayn and Bayley's NXT careers or Johnny Gargano's recent NXT title win. Fans still like wholesome wrestlers when they're done right and WWE need to realise this.

Whilst Becky Lynch is great, her character has been done to death in recent years. The "anti-hero" is now just as mainstream as the boy scout; Deadpool is the new Superman.

It would have be the right person, but a pure babyface who fights for all things good could be an oddly refreshing take in modern WWE. Let's just hope this new hero is as nice outside of wrestling as they are in kayfabe, or we may have another Hulk Hogan on our hands.
