During her brief hiatus from WWE this past spring, AJ wed the former WWE champion in a private ceremony. It came as a surprise to many fans but those paying close attention noticed that the then-Divas champion was sporting an engagement ring in her matches just prior to her disappearance from television. The happy couple had been sported together at Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks games and had been an item for some time before the public outing. Prior to their real life relationship, they had been involved in an angle in the summer of 2012. AJ, mentally unstable following a public breakup with Daniel Bryan, bounced between Superstars like a pinball. One of those Superstars was Punk, who appeared to be the most concerned for her health and well-being of all the men she targeted. With Punk turning heel in August of that year, there was never any real suitable outcome to that portion of AJ's story.
