3. She Is A Comic Book Fan
"I started reading Marvel around the fourth grade. My favorites were always X-Men, Spider-Man, and Fantastic Four, but I've dabbled in a few others," AJ told
Marvel.com in an installment of the comic company's "Fightin' Fangirls" interview series. So invested in the stories that played out in the pages of the books, specifically the wildly popular X-Men series, AJ credits them with her decision to major in television and film production. Specifically, she targets the character of Jean Grey as a huge inspiration.
I've never been a girly girl. I always found it fascinating to be someone who people look at and say is pretty, but is also so much more than that. was super smart and in control, and I love her powers too. I really liked a woman who had a little masculinity to her and was kind of badass, and that's kind of who I felt I was my whole life. I'm more of a chick than a girl.
She points to Cyclops as one of the male X-Men she admires, mainly due to the fact that he is nothing more than a classic good guy. "Cyclops has always had a high moral standard, and I'd like to see how that comes into play." That line of thinking is quite interesting in that the AJ Lee character that she portrays Monday, Tuesday and Friday nights on WWE programming is anything but a traditional babyface. Her edginess and unstable nature makes her more akin to Wolverine, an antihero she never really associated with. "Ok, Wolverine, you're badass and all, but anger management is not attractive."
