While I personally think Hiromu Takahashi was the right man to walk away with the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship, there can be no real complaints with the outcome of the match. For so long, Will Ospreay was the nearly man of the New Japan junior division. This was his moment to shine.

Not only did Ospreay leave Tokyo with the Junior Heavyweight Championship, he managed to gain it by defeating the ultimate thorn in his side. Commentators and promoters alike are quick to state that three things are certain in life - death, taxes, and Scurrl beats Ospreay - but the curse is now over.

And where better to lift it than January 4 at the Tokyo Dome? WrestleMania may be the biggest stage in sports entertainment, but Wrestle Kingdom is arguably the biggest stage in professional wrestling. If Ospreay was going to beat Scurll anywhere, the Tokyo Dome was 100% the right place for it to happen.

That cupping is still a bit weird though.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
