10 Things Pro Wrestling Is Still Terrible At

5. Comedy

Ask Jim Ross what he thinks of comedy in wrestling and the AEW announcer will probably suggest it has no place near the top of the card. Via his 'Grilling JR' podcast, Ross once criticised wrestling's need to play 'ha ha' as much as possible. He has a point there. WWE, in particular, can't resist.

It's rare that such hijinks are genuinely funny.

Santino Marella was an exception, not a rule. His behaviour was endearing, and it was obvious that he penned much of his material himself. The Miz and John Morrison... not so much. It's hard to pinpoint exactly who would find Otis stripping Miz to his tighty-whities hilarious - it really is. Kids, maybe? Even then, maybe not.

The Rock, Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho are all examples of guys who managed to marry comedy with serious feuds and make it work. They were elite-level performers though. Miz and Morrison are hardly bad, but they're not miracle workers and can't make WWE's sophomoric slapstick land.
