10 Things That Didn't Go The Way AEW Wanted

Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. is absolutely killing it in AEW these days, having become one of the biggest stars in the company. Still, the early days of AEW were a rough, rough ride for the Role Model.

In the formative months of AEW, Britt Baker was positioned as an all-smiling, baby-hugging, granny-kissing babyface who was clearly earmarked to eventually become the poster girl of the women's division. While Baker would indeed become that poster girl, it took a major character shift to get there.

Despite Riho being the inaugural AEW Women's Champion and the initial top hero of the division, Britt was being groomed to be the real top babyface of the women's ranks. The problem was, her babyface act struck out week after week when it came to connecting with the fans.

There was nothing tangible to this act, there was nothing for fans to grab onto, and Britt and her promos were as vanilla as vanilla could be - to the point that her good gal schtick started to receive notable boos from audiences.

Baker herself has stated how it took her a while to find her footing in AEW, with this not only the first time she was on mainstream TV, but her AEW tenure being the first time the Good Doctor was really required to cut promos. Thankfully, once the powers that be realised the disconnect of the Britt Baker character, the subsequent heel turn and a new arrogant, clinical edge took Brittsburgh to an entirely new level.
