10 Things That Must Happen Ahead Of WWE Fastlane 2017

1. Hold Off On Finn Bálor’s Return

A couple of weeks back, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer revealed on Twitter that Finn Bálor is indeed close to a return after a six-month injury lay-off. As great as that news is, though, it doesn’t necessarily mean that Bálor should be brought back right away.

Given the way that the Irishman was ruled out of action, the only suitable plan upon returning would be to have him challenge for the Universal Championship - a title he won but never officially lost.

Of course, that Universal title picture is currently a rather crowded one. While Goldberg and Kevin Owens are set to do battle for the belt at Fastlane, they each have feuds of their own on top of that in the form of Brock Lesnar and Chris Jericho respectively.

So rather than shoehorning Bálor into either the Owens vs. Jericho or Goldberg vs. Lesnar feuds (depending on who wins at Fastlane), they should hold off until the time is right for him to return and challenge, unopposed, for the belt that he never lost in the first place.

It may seem like a bold move, especially with WrestleMania on the horizon, but in order to save Bálor from getting lost in the shuffle, it feels like the company would be better off postponing his big return until things have calmed down in Raw’s Universal title scene.

As disappointing as it sounds right now, that means no Bálor sighting ahead of Fastlane.
