10 Things That MUST Happen Before AEW Full Gear 2022
9. Adam Page Kicks Out Of The One-Winged Angel
There has never been a more opportune time for the One-Winged Angel to be kicked out of than now.
This Kenny Omega story arc, throughout New Japan, ROH, AEW, and everywhere in between, has been made perpetually greater by making the One-Winged Angel the most protected move in wrestling. No one came close to evading a three count after landing on the top of their spine, their neck protected only by Omega's carefully-placed hand.
Kota Ibushi was the last man to kick out of the manoeuvre, and that was back on 18 August 2012, before it became Omega's regular match-ender. In other words, it's been almost a decade since anyone's shoulder lifted off the mat post-OWA.
Kazuchika Okada, Tetsuya Naito, Jon Moxley, Tomohiro Ishii, and countless, countless more have all tried and failed. Adam Page, too, has failed to evade the, until now, inescapable pinfall, succumbing to the finish, though he did put up a fight while he was atop Omega's shoulders.
Come 13 November, AEW must pull a double trigger by allowing Page to kick out of the One-Winged Angel. It's the right time. The integrity of the move won't be damaged by one kick out in just under a decade. If anything, it'll make it more prestigious, restraining these cathartic kick outs to only marquee situations.
