10 Things That Must Happen During John Cena’s WWE Retirement Tour

1. Win The Intercontinental Championship

If there’s one thing WWE absolutely should do with John Cena during his farewell tour, it’s give him a championship.

But not just any championship. Cena should win the one title that he has never captured during his entire career: the Intercontinental Championship. It’s wild to realize it, but Cena has never held WWE’s legendary secondary title. In fact, he’s never competed for it in a televised bout.

Cena rose to prominence on SmackDown and won the other secondary title, the United States Championship, before ascending to the world title scene. When he stepped down to hold a secondary title toward the end of his full-time run, it was once again the US title.

Winning the Intercontinental Championship would complete Cena’s career in many different ways. For starters, it would allow him to be listed as both a Triple Crown and Grand Slam Champion in WWE. Given the resurgence in prestige the IC title has experienced due to Gunther’s record-setting reign, it is a prize that would mean a great deal to Cena, rather than being seen as a step down.

The fact WWE's most celebrated and decorated superstar has never held one of its most prominent titles is near-criminal.

Hey WWE, the ball’s in your court. You have a chance to do something really memorable in 2025.
