10 Things That Will NEVER Happen In AEW

WWE's treatment of Zack Ryder segues neatly into AEW's treatment of Matt Cardona.

Cardona debuted for AEW on the July 29 Dynamite. He made the save for Cody after a John Silver and Alex Reynolds beatdown, which led to a match between the two real-life best friends and the Dark Order underlings on August 5. The initial apathy surrounding Cardona's signing - yes, he probably deserved a shot on principle, but the standard had improved considerably since his cruel burial all those years ago - didn't wane. The match epitomised the gentleman's three, if that, and was memorable only for a great, fired-up exchange between Cody and Silver. Cardona entered another nondescript performance in an eight-man crowd breather at All Out. He failed to generate much interest, and thus didn't figure into AEW's plans despite his close friendship with an EVP.

Using Silver to segue into the next example, Miro isn't popping, either, despite there being a degree of residual WWE fame for AEW to exploit. He wasn't featured at Full Gear because he hadn't earned the spot. Silver had.

Luther, Chris Jericho's mate, got a Dynamite main event. It's highly unlikely that he gets another. Shawn Spears - another old pal of Cody's - has failed to make the grade as a can't miss talent, and while AEW has persisted with the push - for continuity purposes, as much as anything - it has never felt obnoxious. It's a data and merit-based company with no cosmetic bias or mean streak.

Miro isn't going to get saddled with nervous twitch gimmick because his gamer b*llocks hasn't washed.
